Spring Semester 2019
Spring Tree Sculpture Project . LIBRARY Pick up a book or hangout with some friends, just put your phone away and enjoy life.
As a community, we rely too much on technology and need to spend more time outside doing things that don’t require technology. We made books to inspire people to go into nature and read. This is emphasized by the green turf and flowers. Books will last forever, you can walk into a shop, home, or store, and find a book. They last forever. We should rely on those. More than half of teens asked, admit they spend to much time on their phones. Our goal is to encourage teens to read more and do so outside in the sun. Convincing teenagers to use their phones less and creating a nice environment for them is the first step into improving their education, future and the many generations to come. Our vision was to use art to create the setting of being outside, sitting under a tree reading a book. We were inspired by our favorite books that we have read in the past with the goal of passing on our passions to our audience.
Overall, this project’s goal is to bring attention back to books, and work to reduce the amount of time kids spend on electronics. Hopefully the Boulder High community can utilize the free library we have created to inspire others to reduce their screen time. We hope you enjoy our sculpture!

SEA CREATURES SAVE THE OCEAN: TRASH AND THE OCEAN SHOULD NOT BE MIXED!
Our work in this piece was meant to inspire proactiveness and action regarding ocean pollution. Our ultimate goal is to spread awareness through art.
We made the sea creatures and hung trash with them to illustrate the pollution in the ocean that the creatures have to deal with. The ocean trash has detrimental effects on the entire planet and we are trying to bring awareness and inspire people help reduce their trash output for the future of the world. Trash in the ocean gets stuck in animals and they think it's food so when they eat it, they die.
Sea creatures are dying due to pollution and trash in the ocean. Oceans are a critical part of the world's ecosystems. Our oceans are already over fished and sea trash is making marine life diminish faster. If we don’t act now the problem will only get worse. The trash was collected around BHS grounds and if we had not picked it up it may have affected the surrounding ecosystem.
Since we are a landlocked state, we have little exposure to the ocean, but out of sight, out of mind doesn’t apply here. We hope our artwork will inspire others to action.
