COVID 19 Stay at Home Lesson week 1: Andy Goldsworthy Inspiration
"I liked this project because I do stuff like this everyday. I keep a Zen garden and rocks to stack. Both of these go hand-in-hand with the idea, they exist, because they can and stop existing when they can't. I especially like to stack rocks when I'm out in nature. I tried to take equal satisfaction when building something and when destroying something. Because these processes are equally important. So I'd be more than inclined to continue creating works of art like this" ~J.M.
"Leaving the piece in nature for it to eventually go away is just kind of a tribute to nature and something that I respect. Knowing that it will slowly disappear after you're finished making the art piece, it teaches you that you have to enjoy and “buy-in” to the process of making it. If you can learn to enjoy and be great at the process of doing something rather than just the results, then you will enjoy anything you’re trying to accomplish. This project helps focus on learning to enjoy the process instead of just the results. Although you will have the picture, which is the artwork it becomes, the piece will never be the same as it originally was." -J.M. (different student!)
