My name is Nick Salazar and I am originally from Santa Fe, NM. I studied history at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and graduated, cum laude, in 2012. After undergrad, I moved up to Boulder, CO for graduate school and started teaching at Prospect Ridge Academy in Broomfield, CO while undertaking my graduate program during night school. I taught 8th grade U.S. History, 9th grade World History honors, 10th grade U.S. Government and Politics and an elective Art History course. In 2015 I graduated with a M.A. in Educational Policy, Foundations, and Practice, summa cum laude, from the University of Colorado-Boulder and the following year I got a job at Boulder High School. I am in the process of completing my second masters degree, summa cum laude, from Adams State University in American History and my thesis will be published this Spring. At Boulder High I have taught World Geography, World History, U.S. Government, Race Relations-A History of Black Slavery in America, United States History, Advanced Placement United States History, and AP Art History. I am also a reader for the APUSH exam.

I completed the APSI (AP Summer Institute) for AP Art History in 2022 from Marsha Russell who is featured, teaches, leads, and reviews AP workshops across the country. In addition I work closely with former Boulder High School teacher, Mary Jensen, who meets with me on a bi-monthly basis to review and plan the AP Art History course. I believe that art is a great vehicle to teach history and vice versa. The human journey as viewed through the lens of art becomes a much more intimate and beautiful experience. Students will be well prepared for the AP exam in May and have both a challenge and enriching experience in this course.

A recent visit to the Denver Art Museum to see Rembrandt's engraving up close and then some fun time in the museum doing our own engravings.
