Dr. Claudia LaStella grew up on the east coast. She studied painting and photography at Rochester Institute of Technology and then earned her teaching license at USF in San Francisco. She has been a visual arts teacher in BVSD for the past 26 years. After a few years in elementary, she moved to Monarch High. During her time there, she started the AP Art History course, the Digital Arts Program and the Art of Animation. In addition, she taught all levels of photography. Dr. LaStella has her Master's in Art History and her Doctorate in Art Education and Curriculum. She is very excited to be teaching at Boulder High and to be working in her community. Outside of teaching, she is an oil painter, photographer and encaustic artist.
