Kate Villarreal studied ceramics and earned her BFA at The Kansas City Art Institute. Working in clay for over 30 years she now teaches ceramics at Boulder High School with a special joy...she graduated from BHS and knows first hand how satisfying working with clay is for her students! Kate earned her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and is a National Board Certified Teacher. Believing that an active artist makes a better art teacher, Kate works with low fire earthenware clay with majolica and luster glazes, and a mid-range stoneware clay in her home studio. Kate shows her work throughout the front range of Colorado and regularly hosts home sale shows in which she invites her students to participate with their own artwork.
