Guidelines for the club are reviewed with students. Clay Club meets during "Open Studios" (days and times listed on the BHS calendar) in the Pottery Room #1504.Clay Club is supervised by one of the 3 visual Art teachers and Student Clay Club President. Requirements:
Meeting times:
- Students meet as a group during ‘Open Studio’s’ as posted on the BHS calendar
- Students may need to come in to the Pottery Studio to tend to their pieces as clay drys out quickly! The studio is open throughout the day though working space is dedicated in class times for enrolled students. However, if there is an open wheel or table space during class time, Clay Club students may work on their piece after checking in with instructor.
Cost:
- Currently there is no cost to join this club. Students in Clay Club are required to make their own clay (after receiving instruction) and contribute some made clay for classroom use. Larger projects may require a donation to the Pottery Program.
Leadership:
- Clay Club President is required to have taken at minimum of Level 1 Pottery at Boulder High School. The President communicates with the instructor and advertises for the club. The President welcomes all members and acts as a studio supervisor (though there is always a art faculty member overseeing Open Studios) to assure requirements of the club are met.
Requirements:
- Clay Club Students make their own clay + add to the classroom clay trough
- Clay Club Students share ‘Clay Club Tools’
- Clay Club Students treat all equipment and studio space with respect
- Clay Club Students leave the studio cleaner than they found it
- Clay Club Students label their project bat and tend to their project throughout the week.
- Clay Club Students pick up their finished work after firing
